Project Brief

The Life Extension Podcast is an audio-podcast show that discusses and explores the new trends of radical life extension means to consumers. We were responsible for developing the visual identity and a website for the launch of the show.

Primary identity

For the visual identity, the client’s requirements were simple and clean design. The main focus point of the identity was the title of the show itself, which was designed as the primary icon.

Visual style

After client's confirmation of the logo, we were in a search for the color palette and the memorable symbol, which together would create an expected feeling and personality of the brand. During this phase, we made a list of keywords, like "futuristic", "technological", "connection between man and machine" and tried to visualised it. And we kept in mind our target audience, while designing.

Secondary Symbol

In addition to this, a secondary symbol was designed to support the typographic visual and we concentrated on communicating ‘life extension’ as a core that would drive the iterations.

Iterations

We further explored the 2D iterations in different views, and grid arrangements and expanded them in an isometric view that gave rise to varying results.

Website Design

For the requirements of the website to be simple and functional we chose to expand the visual style of the website extending on the life extension iterations and designed a clean and modern website design with a simplistic user flow and a logical navigation system.

Visual Style. Typography

In order to create a harmonic hierarchy of information within the website, there was created a visual style that consists of typography, colours, figures, buttons, and elements.

Summary

As a result of two months of collaborative work between myself and co-designer Pallavi Sen on "The Life Extension Podcast," we developed a visual identity and built a website using WordPress.

It was first project right after graduating from EU Berlin and I was excited to work on this project. It was especially interesting to create a visual identity for such an abstract and wide topic.

Project limitations

Our client chose the WordPress platform for the website. Before working on this project, I was quite skilled with Webflow. While there were some similarities between the two platforms, WordPress proved to be considerably limited platform to implement all our design ideas without additional cost for the client. But despite of a long learning curve and a lot of communication and compromises, we successfully launched the website to the world.

Another challenge was ensuring that the client could easily update the website with future information without our assistance. Solution to this was very detailed video-instructions to covering potential scenarios he might encounter.
